WBR Dance Team
Our studio motto is LEGACY + FAMILY. Our whole coaching staff is exclusively comprised of alumni of WBR. Several of our dance moms are alumni who now have kids in the program. As a result of this, my entire varsity team is comprised of kids that have danced in our program since they were babies. We currently have two sets of sisters and then a set of cousins. Then, within our coaching staff, we have a brother (coach) and sister (dancer) and then mom (coach) and daughter (dancer).
My son was a dancer in a Phantom of the Opera kick routine we did 15 years ago. It was one of the most memorable dances we have done in our program and this year is the 15th anniversary of that theme. My daughter and my niece were 1 and 2 years old when we originally did Phantom. At the time my mom made them both mini versions of the varsity costumes. This year my niece and my daughter will be the ones IN the dance. I'm really excited for the opportunity to do this theme again, but with them this time!
Because I have a background in choreography, creativity and originality has always been really important to me. I love that DTU celebrates that unique perspective. I think to evolve and inspire people we need to be willing to take chances and make choices that make people feel and experience things in a new and different way.
