Breanna Griego-Schmitt
Breanna Griego-Schmitt is in her nineteenth year as a coach and choreographer in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She trained during high school and college, and danced competitively while finishing her PhD in Early Modern European History at the University of New Mexico. She’s trained in San Diego, Chicago, Edinburgh, Nashville, and Amsterdam. She was the head instructor at a local studio for sixteen years and was responsible for curriculum development, coached two teams, and taught various levels of technique, jazz, and contemporary classes. Breanna is also a professor at UNM and teaches Critical Text Analysis, Foundation Math, and First-Year Learning Communities. She also works for Nevada National Security Site/Sandia National Labs as a training specialist. Breanna is the owner and artistic director of BGS Dance Collective, a small business that brings studio-based technique and dance education to high schools around New Mexico. She serves as the National Dance Coaches Association Executive Board Secretary. Through NDCA, she has also completed the Proficient, Advanced, and High-Level Judging Certification courses as well as training in Inclusion and Engagement. She’s grateful to have the opportunity to interact with so many fabulous dancers and colleagues around the country!
